Painfully Funny

Two years ago, NBC began advertising a new show called the Office. This was based on a British hit of the same name. The first few episodes were genius. They were subtle and charming and after you watched the show 2 times, the laughs lasted longer. Now, into its third season, The Office has really hit its stride. It has found a balance between funny and ludicrous, the characters are so real, yet far-fetched. The writing has been suberb, they have written this show for people who watch it twice, the first time to laugh out loud and the second time to giggle at the subtitles. I have been reading about the death of the Sitcom for over 2 years, but with shows like the Office, there is still hope. I applaud NBC for giving this mid-season replacement a chance and now they are wreeping the rewards.
